CHANDLER, AZ — Multiple people were taken to hospitals on Monday morning after being stung by bees at the Intel Corporation campus in Chandler near Dobson and Octotillo roads.

Chandler Fire Department officials were first dispatched to the scene around 9 a.m. for reports of one person suffering "a large amount of bee stings," along with multiple other patients.

During the course of the response, fire crews treated a total of ten patients with bee stings. Three of those individuals were transported to hospitals, where they were listed in stable condition. Seven other people received treatment at the scene.

Fire officials say they do not yet have information on what caused the swarm to become agitated.

The incident raised questions about bee activity near a major semiconductor manufacturing facility, and city officials have not indicated whether additional precautions will be put in place.
