Gilbert: 2-Year-Old Perrin Gordon Dies in Apparent Pool Drowning, Police Investigate

Perrin Gordon was just 2 years old when he died in a Gilbert pool over the weekend. Gilbert Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
"Our thoughts are with the child’s loved ones during this devastating time," the police department said.
The Incident
Officers responded to a home near Higley Road and Elliot Road just after 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, according to the Gilbert Police Department.
Responding officers found a toddler unresponsive in a residential swimming pool. Police immediately began life-saving efforts on the child. Gilbert Fire and Rescue transported the boy to a local hospital. He was later pronounced dead.
Police identified the victim Monday as Perrin Gordon.
Age Correction
Authorities initially reported the child's age as 1 year old. Gilbert Police issued a correction on Monday, stating the child was actually 2 years old, according to AZFamily and FOX 10 Phoenix.
Investigation Underway
Gilbert detectives are investigating how the child ended up in the pool and for how long he was submerged, according to FOX 10 Phoenix. No other details have been released.
This drowning marks the second pediatric drowning in Maricopa County so far in 2026, according to 12 News.
Water Safety Reminder
KTAR News and Fulton Homes referenced the "2 Seconds is Too Long" campaign in their coverage of the incident. The campaign reminds caregivers that two seconds is too long to take your eyes off children near water.
Gilbert Police have not released information about whether charges will be filed in the case. The investigation remains ongoing.
