Kingman Man Arrested in Nearly Decade-Old Murder Case

KINGMAN, Ariz. — A Kingman man has been arrested in a murder case that had gone unsolved for nearly a decade, according to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

John Dee Page Jr., 46, of Kingman, was taken into custody on Tuesday, September 22, and is being held at the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility. He faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of 22-year-old Matthew Johnson.

Sheriff's deputies originally responded to a call involving a weapons offense on December 14, 2016, and found that Johnson had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Detectives collected evidence at the scene and interviewed witnesses, but were unable to find sufficient evidence to make an arrest at the time. The investigation remained open for nearly ten years.

"Over time, evidence from the crime scene was resubmitted and subjects re-interviewed by Detectives and our Special Investigation Unit regarding the homicide," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "Through the course of the investigation, John Page Jr. was identified as the suspect in this incident and a felony arrest warrant was issued."

Page was arrested without incident. The sheriff's office confirmed the investigation is ongoing.

Kingman is located about 105 miles southeast of Las Vegas via U.S. 93.
