Mesa Man Arrested After Allegedly Stealing 20 Packages Worth $2,800 From Porches

Luan Nguyen, 28, was arrested on June 9 after Mesa Police linked him to a string of package thefts across Mesa and one incident in neighboring Gilbert, according to a statement released by the Mesa Police Department on June 16.
Video from the department shows Nguyen snatching boxes off homeowners' porches. Investigators say he stole packages delivered to residents' homes between March 27 and June 5, 2026.
"Between March 27, 2026, and June 5, 2026, Nguyen allegedly stole packages that had been delivered to residents' homes," investigators wrote.
The Stolen Goods
Police say Nguyen took more than $2,800 worth of merchandise. Some items were kept for personal use. Others were sold online, according to the department statement.
Nguyen faces three felony charges:
- Theft
- Trafficking in stolen property
- Possession of dangerous drugs
He was booked into the Maricopa County jail on June 9.
Police Still Seeking Victims
Investigators believe Nguyen is connected to more than 15 package theft incidents in Mesa and one in Gilbert. Detectives are still working to identify additional victims, the department said.
"The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to identify additional victims and determine whether Nguyen may be connected to other package theft incidents," the statement read.
