A man is fighting for his life after a violent fight erupted outside a north Phoenix Irish pub early Sunday morning. The altercation also damaged a Waymo self-driving vehicle parked in the lot.

The Fight at Dubliner Irish Pub

Phoenix police responded just after 2 a.m. Sunday to reports of a large fight at the Dubliner Irish Pub near 40th Street and Thunderbird Road, according to multiple news outlets.

When officers arrived, they detained several adults at the scene.

"When officers arrived, they say they detained several adults," according to the Phoenix Police Department report cited by ABC15.

Phoenix Fire Department personnel transported one man to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to AZFamily and 12News.

A Waymo Caught in the Crossfire

Investigators said a person was inside a Waymo autonomous vehicle during the fight, which resulted in damage to the car, according to ABC15 and 12News.

Waymo vehicles are self-driving cars that operate without a human driver behind the wheel. The company's vehicles are commonly seen on streets across the Phoenix metro area.

Arizona's Family crews at the scene reported seeing investigators focused on both the pub and the damaged Waymo in the parking lot.

Investigation Underway

Police have not released the number of people involved in the fight or whether anyone else was injured.

"It is currently not known what led to the fight," according to 12News.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to all three outlets covering the incident.

Authorities have not released the name or condition of the injured man. Police have not said whether any arrests have been made beyond the initial detentions at the scene.
