Police Execute Search Warrant at Peoria Unified Headquarters
Peoria Police executed a search warrant at the Peoria Unified School District administration center on Monday, July 6. The search is part of a criminal investigation into two former Centennial High School teachers accused of sexually abusing the same male student.
Yellow tape surrounded the district offices as officers searched for digital records, personnel files, and correspondence. Peoria police said they could remain at the location for several days.
"I saw police officers just everywhere," said Heather Rooks, Peoria Unified governing board member and former president.
The Allegations Against Haley Beck and Angela Burlaka
The investigation centers on Haley Beck and Angela Burlaka, both former teachers at Centennial High School.
According to police documents, Beck is accused of sending thousands of text messages to the student, offering sex, and giving the student cash, drugs, and alcohol. Police say Beck also tampered with the student's grades. Beck is the sister of social media influencer Noah Beck.
Burlaka, a 25-year veteran of the district, is accused of sending explicit videos to the same student.
The Peoria Unified School District fired Beck. Burlaka forfeited her teaching license.
Police have recommended charges against both former educators. The Maricopa County Attorney's Office is currently reviewing the cases.
Board Member Calls for Accountability
Heather Rooks said the alleged abuse was widely known within the community.
"These are kids that were preyed on by two teachers, and nobody did anything. Nobody," Rooks said.
Rooks said she was ousted as board president after calling for a deeper investigation into the matter.
"What are we doing? Why are we not working with Peoria PD? Why are we not handing over what they are asking for?" Rooks said. "Do something. This should not have happened at all. That's my message to the district. The truth will come out."
District Disputes Need for Search Warrant
Peoria Unified officials issued a statement saying the district had cooperated fully with the investigation since the first search warrant was executed on May 28, 2026.
"The Peoria Unified School District is disappointed by the Peoria Police Department's decision to execute a second search warrant at the District Administration Center and Cholla Annex today, which closed district operations for the day and may affect operations in the days ahead," the district said in a statement.
The district added that no employees or board members were taken into custody during the search.
Parents expressed frustration with the district's handling of the investigation.
"It seems like they're fighting the police every step of the way instead of cooperating with them," said parent Mia Ellis.
What Comes Next
The Peoria Unified Governing Board will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 7, at Marshall Ranch Elementary School in Glendale. The meeting will not be livestreamed due to the change in location, but it will be recorded and posted on the district's website.
The Maricopa County Attorney's Office has not announced a timeline for filing charges against Beck and Burlaka.
