Ashley N. Stenson, 42, of Atlanta, Georgia, was the woman who was shot to death. She was taken to OSF HealthCare St. Francis Medical Center unresponsive with no pulse. She was pronounced dead at 7:03 pm in the trauma room, said Coroner Jamie Harwood.

The suspected gunman, Cortez White, 41, of St. Louis, died in surgery at 8:26 pm. He was unresponsive without breathing and had no pulse when he was taken to OSF, Harwood said. Both victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

An officer responded about 6:35 pm Friday to the 500 block of Hamilton Boulevard, near the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel. There had been a reported domestic disturbance between a man and a woman at the address, said Peoria Police.

According to police, White shot and killed Stenson. White then exchanged gunfire with the officer. The officer was not injured. Illinois State Police are investigating the incident.

Both victims were from out of state, Harwood said. Autopsies confirmed their deaths.
