Three teenagers have been indicted on felony charges after a violent Chandler home invasion that left an elderly man pistol-whipped and his disabled daughter shot, according to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

The charges stem from two separate incidents of violence on June 6, prosecutors said.

The home invasion

Around 6 a.m. on June 6, Chandler police responded to reports of a burglary near Arizona Avenue and Elliot Road, according to court documents obtained by AZFamily.

An elderly man told police that at least two unknown men forced their way into his home through his bedroom door and struck him in the head with a gun. The suspects demanded the victim's vehicle keys and stole his Mercedes sedan, according to authorities.

During the break-in, the suspects shot the man's daughter in the arm. Police said the daughter has special needs due to a traumatic brain injury. She was taken to the hospital with two gunshot wounds to her arm. Her father was also hospitalized. Both victims are expected to survive, according to court paperwork.

The Uber robbery

Just 20 minutes before the home invasion, an Uber driver reported that five men with tattoos tried to get into his sedan, according to court documents.

The driver told the group he could not fit all of them in the vehicle, which led to an argument. The driver then told them to get out of his car. One of the men struck the driver in the head with a firearm, police said.

The indictments

On Wednesday, Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced charges against three suspects:

  • Jesus Sandoval Nunez, 18
  • Jorge Jurado Martinez, 17
  • Kevin Tristan, 17

Both minors are being charged as adults, according to the county attorney's office.

Nunez and Martinez were indicted on two counts of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated robbery, three counts of aggravated assault and one count of burglary in connection to both the Uber robbery and the home invasion, according to AZCentral.

Martinez also faces a charge of misconduct involving weapons. Tristan faces charges of burglary, aggravated robbery and aggravated assault, prosecutors said.

Nunez is being held on a $250,000 bond, according to AZFamily.

Three more indicted for helping suspects flee

Three additional men face felony charges of hindering prosecution after they were accused of helping two of the home invasion suspects attempt to flee to Mexico, according to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

  • Pete Canez, 65
  • Robert Rosas, 59
  • Anthony Rosas, 39

The three men were indicted on charges related to helping the suspects escape, prosecutors said.
