A single night of sign removal leads to seven charges
A Lake Havasu City woman was arrested and charged with seven counts of a Class 2 misdemeanor after police say she removed and discarded political campaign signs belonging to seven different candidates.
Lisa Priester, 65, was booked into the Mohave County Jail on June 8, 2026. She was released on her own recognizance at her initial court appearance, according to a press release from the Lake Havasu City Police Department.
The investigation begins with a witness tip
The case started on the evening of June 7, 2026. Officers were dispatched to the area of SR 95 and Acoma Boulevard South after receiving a report of someone removing political signs.
When officers arrived, they spoke with a witness who said he saw a female subject pulling down campaign signs and throwing them on the ground. The suspect fled before police could make contact. The witness gave officers a photograph of the suspect and her vehicle.
"The suspect fled the area prior to officers' arrival and was not located that evening. The witness provided responding officers with a photograph of the suspect and her vehicle," according to the police department press release dated June 9, 2026.
Seven candidates affected
Police identified Priester the next day. Investigators determined she was responsible for removing and damaging signs for seven separate candidates during the 2026 election cycle. Each removal was charged as a separate Class 2 misdemeanor.
Priester told officers she believed the signs were a road hazard, according to a June 13 report in Today's News-Herald.
