Endangered missing alert issued for Peoria teen
Peoria police are asking the public to help find a 17-year-old girl they say is in danger because of known mental health conditions.
Indiya Fabela went missing on June 26 from Peoria, Arizona. Police classified her as an endangered missing juvenile, a designation they use when a person may be at increased risk of harm due to medical or mental health needs, according to a post on the Peoria Police Department Facebook page.
What police are saying
"Peoria Police seek the public's help in locating Indiya Fabela, a 17-year-old female." — Peoria Police Department, Facebook post
Fabela is described as a Hispanic female, 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 127 pounds. She has tattoos on the right side of her face, her neck, and both of her arms, according to the police post. She was last seen possibly wearing jean shorts and a gray shirt.
12 News reported that Fabela's known mental health conditions may place her at increased risk for harm.
What to do if you see her
Anyone with information about Fabela's whereabouts should contact the Peoria Police Department at 623-773-8311.
This is the second endangered juvenile case Peoria police have handled in recent days. A Safe Alert was issued on June 24 for Elijah Viera, a 12-year-old boy who was missing from Peoria. Police later canceled the alert after Viera was found safe and returned to his family, according to 12 News.
Why this matters
Endangered missing juvenile cases require urgent public attention. Police use the classification when a missing person's age, medical condition, or mental health status puts them at risk if they are not quickly located. The public's eyes are often the difference between a safe recovery and a worse outcome.
Anyone who sees Indiya Fabela or has information about where she is should call Peoria police immediately.
