Two teenagers flown to Phoenix after life-threatening crash

Two teenagers suffered life-threatening injuries in a motorcycle collision in Yuma late Monday night, according to the Yuma Police Department. Both victims were airlifted to a hospital in the Phoenix area for emergency treatment.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:21 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the intersection of South Mary Avenue and East 24th Street.

Police say speed was a factor

According to preliminary investigation findings reported by the Yuma Police Department, an 18-year-old male was operating a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound in the 1200 block of East 24th Street.

The motorcycle collided with a 2026 Honda Civic driven by a 21-year-old woman. The Honda was traveling westbound and was making a left turn south onto Mary Avenue when the collision occurred, according to police.

"Speed appears to be a factor in this case," according to the Yuma Police Department.

Victims transported for treatment

The motorcyclist and his passenger, an 18-year-old girl, sustained serious injuries. Both were transported to Onvida Health initially and were later flown to a Phoenix-area hospital for further treatment, according to KYMA News.

No arrests were reported in connection with the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

Yuma Police officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and provided aid to the injured victims.

The intersection

South Mary Avenue and East 24th Street is a busy intersection in Yuma. The area sees significant traffic volume, particularly during evening hours. Local residents have noted that the intersection can be challenging for drivers making turns.
